Dear
Family,
Thank you so much for all the letters and support. It sounds
like you have had a great week and it's fun to see everyone together
again.
This week has been kind of crazy! We've been pretty busy moving
into our apartment and learning about our area. Luckily we have an amazing
senior couple, the Hauks, to help us out. They've done an amazing job preparing
our new apartment for us and helping us know our branch better. It's been fun
working with them and gaining a better perspective on what Grandma and
Grandpa's missions were like.
Our branch is pretty small. It has a few really strong families
and lots of inactives. It's hard because the branch covers a huge area of small
towns outside of Savona. Lots of people don't have cars so it's hard to get to
church. Anziano Hauk was just put in as Branch President this Sunday and
we want to really strengthen the branch and reactivate some families. We spent
some time the other day going over the member list trying to figure out we
should visit.
We've already seen miracles here. We've been going through the
area book and lists of potentials to find people to teach. We set up an
appointment with a man named Joseph yesterday at the church. It turns out that
he was a referal from a member a year ago, but hadn't been really interested at
that time. We taught him the restoration and asked him if there was a time in
his life when he had felt the Holy Ghost. He described an experience he had and
said he wanted to always have that feeling with him. We both felt prompted to
give him a baptism challenge with a date and he accepted!! We're very excited
for him.
I read a scripture this week that I really liked. It's in
D&C 123:17 ''Let us cheerfully do all things that lie in our power; and
then may we stand still, with the utmost assurance, to see the salvation of
God, and for his arm to be revealed.'' That is so powerful. When we do our
part, we can have complete faith, complete assurance that God will be working
with us and will magnify our efforts. I have seen this so much on the mission.
There are times when all our efforts seem wasted, but then we reach the miracle
fence, and the blessings flow from heaven.
I love you all! Have a wonderful week!
Love,
Sorella Pace
We tried to find where Dad lived, and I think this is it!
Sadly, the front of the building was under construction but here's the main doorway leading into the courtyard.
